2021 was a year that flourished with music from emerging artists. Olivia Rodrigo was hard to ignore with two No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and her debut album “Sour” which spent four consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. 22-year-old Gracie Abrams released her second musical project and first full-length album “This Is What It Feels Like” which Ones to Watch called, “painfully relatable songwriting at its finest”. So, what does 2022 have in store for us?

Alice Glass
Alice Glass is a Canadian singer and former member of the band Glass Castles which she left in 2014 to pursue a solo career. She has since released several singles and a self-titled EP in 2017 but her debut album "Prey//IV" is scheduled to arrive January 28th. The new album is going to include her single “Fair Game” which is featured on the “New in Indie” playlist for Apple Music Indie.
For the R&B Romantics:
KAINA
KAINA is a Chicago born, first-generation Latina whose style is a combination of pop, soul, R&B, and salsa. She is releasing “It Was a Home” on March 4th which will include singles “Anybody Can Be in Love” and “Casita”. If you’re interested in hearing more from this vibrant artist before her album drops, she released a previous album in 2019 titled “Next to Sun”.
For the Indie-Rock Enthusiasts:
Shamir
The 27-year-old singer/songwriter has dipped his feet into many genres including electronic, alternative, and rock. He will be releasing his first indie-rock album titled “Heterosexuality” on February 11th and has released his lead single “Reproductive”. The album will discuss his experience with queerness and his thoughts on binary restrictions.
For the Soul Music Lovers:
Amber Mark
The Grammy nominated artist for “Best Engineered Album” in 2018 is releasing her debut full-length album “Three Dimensions Deep” on January 28th. She has released four songs from the album titled “What It Is”, “Softly”, “Foreign Things”, and “Worth It”. You can also expect to see her on April 16 and April 23 at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Big Thief
Big Thief is an American band consisting of four members: Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek, James Krivchenia, and Jason Burger. Their fifth album “Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You” is scheduled to release on February 11th after three years since their last LP “Two Hands”. The group claims to be shifting into a folkier and more inviting sound with this album.
